Okay, so we've been talking about this for a bit, and one of the bankers wants to give this a try. Aside from the random games of various sizes throughout the day, we're going to have a weekly tournament (or two) at a repeating time for the same amount. These work the same as a regular game, except that there will be an additional prize (or two).

For this first game, we will be doing the following:
High-Stake Tournament #1
Saturday 19th Jan, 05:00 EVE time. (US Friday night, Aussie Saturday evening)
Buy in: 265 Billion
Single table event.
Game Payout (pending 9 entries):
First = 1.75 Billion
Second = 500 Million
Third = Ishtar, (personal donation)
Anyone who would like to partake should leave a message in this thread to reserve a seat. If we get many more than 9 we will look at doing a dual-table tournament with higher payouts and a second Ishtar.

Since this is a new endeavor on our part (a scheduled tournament, pardoning the big one back in mid-autumn), feedback on what works best for you, the players, would be useful. We are also kicking around the idea of a multi-table smaller buy-in (say 28m) to occur at the same time, also on a weekly basis, and to have additional prizes in those as well. So leave ideas and requests for timezone coverage, setup, etc, in this thread as well. Thanks in advance.

Okay, remind me not to make posts in the dead of night =)
As for timing, I was trying to find a spot where both US and Aussie players would be able to do this. I guess my calculations were off (also the dead of night thing). Let's see if we can find a slightly better hour then.

I am guessing people aren't going to reg and we'll just fill the table on Friday. However, placing your name here assures you a seat, though we are always offering games. Anyway, bumping away =)

The first tournament went off without a hitch with a full table of Nine.
The winners were as follows (one of them already posted):
Fraps - 1.75 Billion ISK
Thief It - 500 Million ISK
Logicprobe - Ishtar
Congratulations to all of the winners. We will be planning next week's tournament for an earlier time for the Euro/US croud, and will probably change the amount. Check back for more information!

No one has to play until the hour before the table starts, that way if something comes up at the last minute there are no issues with what happens to reserved ISK. Hope to see you there on Friday!

The second tournament went well, with a 105m table, but it was nothing spectacular.
We will be postponing a third tournament until we can figure out a way to make these games more spectacular without bankrupting me =) Ideas are always welcome.

As an update, the scheduled 4th tournament didn't happen HOWEVER tonight our amazing banker Thief It pulled together a tournament of AWESOME proportions. We ended up with 16 people at a 210m buyin, with 240m extra donated by Thief and myself, no rake, for a total pot of 3.6 BILLION ISK. We played two tables of 8, with the winners squaring off for 2.2b and 1.1b respectively, and the 2nd place guys fighting for the remaining 300m for third. Congratulations to the winners and it was quite the fun time (except for the usual Mavens lag at the beginning =P)!
